Why I almost quit blogging

January 2016 was the toughest month I have ever had. I came into the year hoping for great things and it seemed like January was out to steal my joy. Things weren't going the way I had hoped. I came this close to deleting my blog and looking for something else to do. I will admit that most of my trouble was my fault. But still, it wasn't fun.

How to Put Your Life in Order

Are you in a place right now, where you feel your life is out of control? Are things moving too fast for you to comprehend? And does it look like things are not getting back into order anytime soon? If you answered yes to all or most of those questions, then know that you are not alone. I, for one, can understand what you are going through. I know what it feels like to try to put your life in order, and not be able to do it.

What I've Been Up to Lately

1. I left Gingerbox and now I write for Tech Cabal. During my first week at Tech Cabal, I got the chance to attend a tech conference in Ikoyi, Lagos. For the duration of the conference, I worked as the Director of Photography. I was in charge of photo sessions and video interviews. It was so cool.
Working as a Director of Photography meant I had to learn new things and do things I couldn't do before. In the process, I also met a couple of pleasant people. Most importantly, the exercise helped me finally decide what programme to study for my Masters.

I'll Go Through The Pain Today For Tomorrow's Sake

I haven't written in a long time. In fact, it's been 3 weeks since I last wrote something that wasn't a personal statement for school application or something of the sort. The main reason is because I have spent so much time at work, thinking about work that I hardly have time for any other thing. Plus, I haven't had someone to deeply converse with in a long while and I feel it's high time I visited my counselor, this blog, again. This is where I feel most comfortable talking and writing about anything without fear or reluctance.

10 Things I Planned to Do Before NYSC Ends

You guys that are serving, or have served, will agree with me that planning to do stuff during NYSC is commonplace, but achieving those plans isn't so common. Like every normal corper, I made plans too. But omo, things haven't gone the way I hoped. Some plans, I abandoned, others, circumstances didn't let me achieve them.

17 Things Extraordinary People Do Daily

Want to achieve extraordinary goals? Take these easy, proven steps every day.
Some people seem to get ahead, no matter what. They aren't necessarily smarter, more creative or harder working than many others. Still, they achieve much more than their peers. Why is that?
The philosopher Aristotle offered an explanation a really, really long time ago: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit."
I meet some of these amazing, extraordinary people just about people every day, as part of my job. They're amazing entrepreneurs, leaders, artists and innovators, and their keys to success aren't complex. Rather, it's the cumulative effect of their simple daily habits.

Here are 17 things the most extraordinary people do every day:

10 Life-Influencing Quotes from Steve Jobs

  1. Innovation has nothing to do with how many R & D dollars you have. When Apple came up with the Mac, IBM was spending at least 100 times more on R & D. It's not about money. It's about the people you have, how you're led, and how much you get it.

How Our DSTV Dish Taught Me Vital Life Lessons

Since June 12, when the World Cup started, I’ve only watched 2 matches because our DSTV was not connected and we hadn’t subscribed. Several attempts to get the Satellite Technicians to come help us connect it proved futile. Each time we called, they’d give one excuse or the other. I even missed the Netherlands versus Spain (5pa1n) match because of this. Subsequently, I started becoming irritated with the situation. Partly because all we had to watch at the moment were religious channels (of which I’m not a big fan), and because my parents were seemingly not as determined as I was to watch the World Cup (a lie I succeeded in telling myself repeatedly). My irritation started guiding my behavior and my parents were obviously not happy with the situation. So, in order to quell the annoyance in the air, I decided to engage in a DIY. I spent several minutes outside my house, figuring a way to fix the dish and connect it. I finally had a Eureka moment.

Assumptions! Assumptions! Ridiculous Assumptions!

Making assumptions about people, an event or a situation often proves to leave you with embarrassing results. In fact, the results can be tragic or comical at times. Take for example this story I came across in the John Maxwell book- Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. It’s a comical story of a traveler between flights at an airport.
She went to a lounge and bought a small pack of cookies and then sat down to read a newspaper. She became aware of a rustling noise and looked to see a neatly dressed man helping himself to the cookies. She didn’t want to make a scene, so she leaned over and took a cookie herself, hoping that he would get the message. As time passed, she thought she had been successful. But then she heard more rustling. She couldn’t believe it. He was helping himself to another cookie.
