The Convenience Store #ParableSunday

Imagine that you walk into a convenience store with a list of things you need to buy. Once you are done buying your items, you walk out and go home. You never come back to that convenience store until you need to buy things again. You do not work there, you are not a shareholder there, and so have no reason to tarry there.

This is the way some of us treat God, like a convenience store. We only remember Him on church service days and even then, we limit our remembrance of Him to the church service hours. We also only come to Him when we have a prayer list that we need to get Him to answer so that we can go on living our lives like He doesn’t want a relationship with us.

God is not a convenience store and he is not our servant. He is our Maker and our Master. He desires more than occasional demands from us, He desires fellowship and a relationship. It is why He made us in the first place: to fellowship with Him. We mustn’t lose our essence and get carried away with the cares and carnal things of this world.

The Albatross #ParableSunday

Suppose you were standing on a beach, looking at an albatross and admiring one of its wings- its right wing. Knowing that the albatross has the longest wing span of any known bird, you say to yourself, “what a wonderful and beautiful right wing.” You keep admiring how it spreads its right wing and flies graciously in the air. As an artist, you bring out your pencil and begin to sketch the albatross’ right wing, all the while ignoring the left wing. Imagine that you take that experience and you go on to tell people how wonderful the right wing of the albatross is and how it is the only thing by which the albatross takes flight. Still you ignore its left wing.

Re: The Parable Of The Albatross

Today, I planned to put up a parable called the Parable of the Albatross. It was meant to explain the place of Faith and Works in Christian living. However, after some much thought, I decided to postpone it to Sunday.

Therefore, from the first Sunday in July, I will begin a new series on my blog that will run every other Sunday after that. The name of the series is #ParableSunday. It is a series where I will be using parables to explain certain concepts of Christianity and Life.

So, that's it. Have a wonderful day ahead. The #100DaysOfGrowth series continues tomorrow.
