The Law of Value Addition

Yesterday evening, I was returning from my college building, on the way to my hostel, and then I met a fellow who I assisted in doing his final year research project. As I saw him I waved at him and the first question I asked was: How was your project defense? His reply: It was awesome, thank you very much- with a wide smile on his face. This smile made me happy. It was obvious he was extremely happy and I felt so much joy, knowing I contributed in some way to the success of his project. It was at that moment that I made a decision in my heart: a decision to be a value-adding person. I said to myself: I want to do this for the rest of my life; I want to live to make people happy. Quite frankly, that is what the law of value addition means: making a positive difference in people lives.

The law of value is unconcerned about personal reward, it is born of a contribution mentality. The willingness to sacrifice to get others what they want that will make them happy. The law of value addition constantly seeks way in which one can make life better for others. In order to add value to people, you must be selfless- and this is one virtue that is especially missing nowadays.
I was at a seminar recently and this is exactly what the speaker talked about. He said that the law of value addition is constantly looking for ways to bring out best on others. The law of value addition asks: how do I proffer solutions to problems? When others are complaining about how bad a situation is, the law of value doesn’t permit you to complain. Instead, it says that you must sit down, think up and execute a solution to the problem. In adding value, you must never leave a place as you met it. Make sure you make positive impact on such a place: be it leadership or a task or an assignment. The law of value addition charges you to, not just make a difference, but to be the difference. As a person of value, you must allow the circumstances decide for you. Jump out of the status quo and go against the tide to ensure that people remember you for years to come. The law of value addition requires a positive attitude to things.

You can’t have a negative or an indifferent attitude and add value. Make sure you ‘positivize’ your attitude. It’ll do your so much good.
