When Are You Most Vulnerable to Give in to the Temptations?

We have established the effects that watching porn has on people now we want to look at the times when the temptation to watch it is strongest and when people are most vulnerable to give in to his temptation.

1. When you’re emotionally exhausted. This is one of the easiest times for anyone to fall into temptations. Emotions and performance go together. The better your emotions, the better your performance. Performance here refers the way we do things. When you’re emotionally exhausted, you get edgy easily. You’re too tired and you may not be able to resist much. Therefore, the temptation comes at a time like this.
2. When you are discouraged. It is easy to get frustrated and angry when one is discouraged. In this state of discouragement, it is then easier for you to succumb to the temptations. For example, you have big plans for something but that thing doesn’t turn out well or it doesn’t even turn out at all, you get can get discouraged and many negative thoughts will fill your head, including thoughts of giving in to porn.
3. Another time of vulnerability is when you are angry. People do foolish things when they are angry. Especially, if as a young person, your anger is targeted at your parents. There are times when you will just do something in a bid to get back at them. Thus, you can be tempted at this time to watch just awe bit of porn which may eventually turn to something else. Even the Bible tells us that it is easy for you to commit sin when you’re angry (Eph. 4:6-27).
4. When you are alone. This is often times the biggest problem. Rarely will the temptation arise when you’re among people, especially godly people are you’re doing and talking about godly stuff.
5. In the night. I have had experiences with people who are easily pull into watching porn at night because others are already asleep. Furthermore, this is when evil is more encouraged because evil thrives in darkness.
6. When you’re idle. The idle mind is the devil’s workshop. If you have nothing doing, the devil would love to give you something to do. He loves idle people. Nature abhors vacuum. Holes have to be filled in time. Thus, it is most times when a porn addict has little or nothing to do that the temptation to watch porn arises.
7. When watching ‘sexy’ movies. You may see nothing wrong with nudity and sex in movies but I have also had encounters with people whose urge to watch porn has arisen from just a seemingly minor sex scene in a movie. So if you know you can’t deal with this, stay away from those types of movies. Is it compulsory for you to watch movies? Can’t you watch something else that won’t trigger the temptation?
8. So, these are various times in which people are vulnerable to the temptation of watching pornography. There are others as they vary with several other people but these are the ones I know of. Do you know of any other? Please, do share.
