SUITCASES

Sitting here, listening to this song ‘Suitcases’ by Dara Maclean gets me thinking about the excess baggage we hold on to in our journey of life. You can’t run when you’re holding heavy suitcases. You don’t have to be afraid to drop these suitcases because they are only holding you back.
How can you move when these suitcases are weighing you down? How can you progress when you carry burdens that are heavier than gravity? Don’t you think you have to drop these baggage so that you can fly? Even aircrafts have luggage limit. Ships, cars, ferries and other means of transportation all have their limit to which they can carry weights.

Talking about baggage, what are they? Baggage come in form of mistakes, bad friends, emotional burdens, unforgiveness, unnecessary drama in your life, sin, past failures and successes. If you don’t let go of these baggage, you remain rooted to one spot without making any good progress. Can you imagine what it’s like to be free? If you can, then that should be enough encouragement for you to let go of those heavy suitcases.
Just open the window of your heart and begin to throw out all those suitcases: all your fears, worries, past failures and successes, mistakes. Let go of those friends that don’t allow you to move forward. They only constitute heavy baggage. It may not be easy but you’ll just going to have to learn to do without them because you won’t enjoy life holding on to them. Just as you can’t board a plane if you’re with excess luggage, you can board the plane of happiness if you don’t drop those suitcases that constitute excess luggage. There’s freedom in relief. Or don’t you think so too?
