Imagine that you walk into a convenience store with a list
of things you need to buy. Once you are done buying your items, you walk out
and go home. You never come back to that convenience store until you need to
buy things again. You do not work there, you are not a shareholder there, and
so have no reason to tarry there.
This is the way some of us treat God, like a convenience
store. We only remember Him on church service days and even then, we limit our
remembrance of Him to the church service hours. We also only come to Him when
we have a prayer list that we need to get Him to answer so that we can go on
living our lives like He doesn’t want a relationship with us.
God is not a convenience store and he is not our servant. He
is our Maker and our Master. He desires more than occasional demands from us,
He desires fellowship and a relationship. It is why He made us in the first
place: to fellowship with Him. We mustn’t lose our essence and get carried away
with the cares and carnal things of this world.
