1. The greatest leaders in the world did not just lead people. They led movements, revolutions and ideologies.

3. Madiba was courageous. He was courageous enough to stand by his vision for South Africa. He was courageous enough to stand for peace when the people demanded war.
4. Madiba was confident in the ideology he stood for: the ideology of freedom for his people.
5. The road to greatness is never ending and always lonely.
6. The ideology comes before the leader and the people. The ideology is never off-track. The people, however, can go off track.
7. The greatest leaders understand that it’s never about them. It’s about the people and the goal. They understand that they are just privileged to pioneer the vision and that is what drives them so hard.
8. It’s important to surround yourself with a wise inner circle. Friends are more important when they are your partners. They will understand your actions when others don’t. They’d be willing to go the full length for you.
9. Mandela did not believe in God (which I’m not a fan of) but you cannot deny that the man build his capacity and his potentials. He didn’t have any deity or supernatural being to hand his hopes upon so he hoped in himself, the ideology and the people. I’m not saying you shouldn’t believe in God but I’m of the opinion that you need to learn how to believe in your God-given abilities. It’s very important.
10. If you aren’t married yet (and if you are), learn this: a woman who is selfless and believes in her husband and is willing to go so far for him is hard to find. When/if you find one, never let her go. Winnie Mandela was the definition of a good wife. For all the 27 years Mandela was imprisoned, she spearheaded his vision. Even though at a time she was more driven by revenge than anything else, you cannot but applaud her role in the achievement.
