MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL

There are too many ‘useless’ people roaming the face of the earth. People who don’t know what to do with life so they are just existing. They are just filling up space and time on earth. They don’t know what they are here for. Also, I know that there are people that others can’t do without. People that are indispensable in their own ways. They are useful people. They know stuff and everyone around them looks up to them for help. They are people you can’t do without.

Be a useful person. Make yourself a person of value. Are you the type of person who when you leave a place people are relieved you’re gone or are the type that people will genuinely miss? It’s entirely up to you to decide the type of person you want to be. When I call someone useless, I don’t mean to insult the person. I am merely pointing out the fact that the person is not being fair to mankind. Such a person can be more than what he/she has made herself into. Furthermore, I don’t refer to less-privileged persons as useless. I mean those who are literate and are privileged to have life throw opportunities their way yet they constantly spurn such opportunities. That’s unfair. Why? Because God made us in such a way that our success and relevance is tied to that of other people. For example, if Martin Luther King Jr. had not stoop up for the black race, we wouldn’t have the rise of the black giants we have in our time: the likes of Barrack Obama, Denzel Washington, Aliko Dangote and the rest.
We need to see the bigger picture. We need to look beyond ourselves. Becoming useful to ourselves and mankind means taking more responsibility for what is happening around us. Let us take a cue from our role models and look out for those who may or may not be able to have what we have. It is our responsibility to make people’s lives better. We must live to create a legacy, no matter how little it may seem. Someone will surely remember you for the good you have done. You may not get to be a Martin Luther King Jr. or a Bill Gates but you can surely impact someone and make life better for them. Make yourself useful. Look beyond yourself.
